PMA’s Denver Team Recognized with CMAA Project Achievement Award

August 31, 2026

PMA’s Denver team, alongside project partners Molson Coors and Hensel Phelps, has received the CMAA Project Achievement Award for the Molson Coors G150 Brewery Project. The CMAA Colorado Chapter named it the best project in the New Construction Over $50 Million category, recognizing the collaboration, innovation, and project management that defined the effort.

Completed in February 2025 in Golden, Colorado, the project modernized the Molson Coors brewery cold block to improve performance, reduce utility use, and increase productivity. The scope included construction of a new 220,000-square-foot facility and installation of more than 200 stainless steel process tanks and related equipment.

PMA served as owner’s representative and construction manager, providing comprehensive project management, controls, scheduling, cost management, risk management, and stakeholder coordination.

Overcoming Challenges Through Collaboration

Construction began in early 2020, requiring the project team to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic while maintaining site operations. The project also faced a severe skilled-labor shortage across Colorado’s Front Range, resulting in significant cost and schedule risk.
In response, PMA and Molson Coors shifted the project delivery method from design-build to design-bid-build just before construction began. This allowed the team to select a general contractor with a strong local presence and established relationships with skilled trades, reducing reliance on costly traveling labor and minimizing schedule risk.

PMA also facilitated collaborative planning sessions with Molson Coors and Hensel Phelps using NetPoint, PMA’s graphically oriented planning and scheduling software, to improve stakeholder engagement, optimize the schedule, and proactively address potential challenges.

Delivering Results

Despite the pandemic, labor constraints, and a change in delivery strategy, the G150 project was completed on time and under budget. Safety performance was also a major achievement: more than 2.4 million labor hours were worked, with a final mixed-labor Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) of 0.39 — significantly below the industry average of 2.3.

The CMAA Project Achievement Award recognizes the dedication and expertise of the entire project team, and underscores PMA’s ability to manage complex challenges, foster collaboration, and deliver successful outcomes for clients. PMA extends its congratulations to Molson Coors, Hensel Phelps, and the Denver project team on this achievement.
