NetPoint software is installed locally, directly on your computer. Your license, however, resides in the PMA license server and database, which is hosted in the cloud by our licensing system software vendor. When NetPoint launches, it uses the internet to connect to the PMA license server to check if the license is valid (or for a concurrent license how many seats are available). If there is no access to the internet, NetPoint will allow access temporarily until a connection is eventually required. The PMA license server and database does not collect or store any schedule files or their contents. For more details, please request our admin guide.
The benefits are numerous: subscription licenses no longer need to be re-activated each year; concurrent licenses no longer require costly on-premise servers or VPN connections for end-users outside the office; and activations and migrations can all be handled without requesting customer support.
For a concurrent license, a license can be “checked-out” for up to 24 hours using the following steps.
NetPoint can be closed and opened as many times as desired for up to 24 hours. A license will be automatically checked-in when there is a connection to the internet and NetPoint is closed down.
Once an order is placed from the PMA’s online store or a purchase order has been issued, an email containing a download link and activation key will be sent within 2 business days to the email address provided during checkout or in the purchase order respectively.
NetPoint offers free licenses to students who attend accredited higher education institutions. If you are a university faculty or student, please get in touch with us at renewals@pmatechnologies.com for academic licensing information. Learn more.
NetPoint is compatible with the following operating systems, with 64-bit being required:
To install NetPoint, a minimum of 200MB of free storage space is recommended.
NetPoint requires a minimum of 1GB of RAM, but 4GB of RAM is suggested for better performance:
Supported schedule size depends on the number of total objects (activities, links, milestones, etc.), the computer’s processor/clock speed, and how much RAM it has. With a well-equipped machine, a delay of about 0.5 seconds can be expected for a schedule between 500-1,000 total objects, which is considered to be a tolerable upper limit. You can continue to work with a schedule until about 2,500 total objects with a delay of 1 second.
NetPoint requires a minimum screen resolution of 1024×768 and a 16-bit color setting. Higher resolution and a 32-bit color setting result in a better graphic image.
For NetRisk, a minimum of 8GB of RAM is recommended with no more than 350 total objects.
