Overview

East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) designed a $40 million lime slaker and CO2 injection facility situated approximately 1,500 feet west of Pardee Reservoir, the district’s primary source of water. This facility aims to introduce chemicals into the Pardee Tunnel to enhance the raw water’s chemistry to benefit more than 1.4 million customers located east of the San Francisco Bay.

PMA Role

PMA provided on-call constructability review, construction schedule development, and estimating services for multiple water and wastewater projects during this process. Staff led a constructability review and AACE Class 2 estimate of the 90% design of improvements to the existing plant. PMA identified environmental impact issues with the potential to delay the initial schedule, allowing EBMUD to better prepare for this potential issue and avoid schedule delays and added costs.
