Long Island Rail Road Mainline 3rd Track Expansion
Overview
The Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) system comprises over 700 miles of track, serves 124 stations, and provides service to over 87 million customers each year. The expansion effort includes 50 projects that will modernize 9.8 miles of LIRR Main Line between Floral Park and Hicksville. Those projects include adding a third track, eliminating all seven street-level grade crossings within the project corridor, adding new power substations and parking, and modernizing track and signal infrastructure.
PMA Role
PMA provides program management support to the prime consultant, Arup/Jacobs JV. PMA is responsible for document control, scheduling, estimating, claims, and changes. The program management team will provide oversight of the $1.8 billion design-build contract.
