Overview

Wayne State University (WSU) is undertaking a $40 million project to construct a new Law School Building to replace the original law school built in 1966. As enrollments continue to increase significantly, WSU is staying ahead by offering a cutting-edge learning environment that reflects the university’s well-established reputation for excellence. Scope for this 80,000-SF structure includes classrooms and lecture halls, meeting areas for students and faculty, a mock trial room, and common areas for student collaboration on school assignments.

PMA Role

PMA is providing procurement assistant services on this contract that include preparing a request for qualifications (RFQ) and a request for proposals (RFP) for architect and engineering design services, as well as for construction management (CM) services, for the new WSU Law School Building. Responsibilities include reviewing draft documents with the WSU team and incorporating changes, supporting the review of all A/E and CM RFQ responses, and assisting WSU in scoring the responses and shortlisting respondents to approximately five vendors. Other tasks include drafting a follow-up RFP for shortlisted vendors, assisting with the preparation of interview questions, facilitating interviews with shortlisted firms, and compiling scores from the selection committee to present them to Wayne State staff for final award recommendation. PMA is also working with the procurement department to prepare correspondence for all respondents, including an award letter for the selected A/E firm, and provide debrief sessions for firms that were not selected.
