United George Bush International Airport Catering Operations Facility

Overview

Having outgrown its existing space, United Airlines is designing and constructing a new $100 million+ catering operations facility at George Bush International Airport (IAH). The 200 to 300-SF space includes food production and storage areas, refrigeration, an employee cafeteria, dish and cart washing space, and trash management within its interior. Planned exterior space incorporates employee and box truck parking, a loading zone, an equipment yard for building utilities, and subgrade water detention. United is also taking into consideration the possibility of future expansion in the space planning. The project is being executed within a tight schedule while maintaining regular catering and airport operations.

PMA is providing project management services for this project, acting as a representative of United and working directly with the United team and its stakeholders to execute day-to-day project and construction management tasks. The project management team ensures that the project adheres to schedule and budget requirements and anticipates and manages any delays.
For project initiation, PMA led a scheduling workshop utilizing NetPoint to develop a schedule with stakeholder input. The owner and contractor were highly impressed by NetPoint and its effectiveness in collaborative planning.
