Harvard University Allston Campus Redevelopment
Overview
PMA provided owner’s project management (OPM), project controls, and PMIS implementation and administration for multiple projects for Harvard University Planning & Project Management. Projects included remediation, demolition, and redevelopment of the Charlesview complex, the science enabling project, and state-of the-art science building.
PMA Role
PMA worked with Harvard University and several design teams on several projects for the Allston Campus development program. PMA managed the Science Enabling project, which encompassed all road and utility work to support development and construction of the Allston Campus. PMA was responsible for developing cost and schedule control processes, reviewing contractor estimates, performing risk reviews, reviewing contractor earned value, maintaining the project estimate at completion, and assisting in cost and schedule dispute resolution. PMA also managed the master program schedule that included client, design, permitting, construction, commissioning, and move in activities for 9+ integrated projects with a total install cost of more than $1 billion.
PMA managed the implementation and integration of e-Builder into the Harvard Capital Projects financial reporting system. PMA successfully developed a cost breakdown structure to align with university requirements; cost coded project estimates; created automated workflows for commitments, invoices, and applications for payment; developed document control file structures; transferred existing project documents into new document control structures; and created custom reports for communication of budgets, commitments, expenditures, and forecasts. PMA also provided system administration services after e-Builder implementation by maintaining user access, performing new user training, updating automated approval workflows, and resolving system errors reported by users.
